Irma McAllister Hamilton suspects her grandson’s seizures may be mystical experiences. Sixteen-year old Charlie only knows that the spells could prevent him from getting a driver’s license. He gets good at hiding. Set in North Carolina’s Cape Fear River Valley in the early 1980s, the novel approaches the steadily developing mysteries of life and our awkward inability to communicate beneath them.
